Mary Jo Pehl is a writer/performer/producer with Cinematic Titanic, the live version of the Peabody Award-winning TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000, for which she was a writer and on-air actor in the recurring role of “Pearl Forrester.” Mary Jo currently teams with Bridget Nelson on “RiffTrax Presents”, continuing the proud tradition of hilarious movie commentary.

Mary Jo is featured in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot (Netflix, Spring 2017) and can be seen in Maria Bamford’s Lady Dynamite (Netflix) and Jonah Ray’s Hidden America (SeeSo).

Mary Jo is appearing at theaters across this great land of ours with her comedy act, and has appeared on Comedy Central and A&E as well as stage productions in Minneapolis, New York and Los Angeles.

Mary Jo’s writing has appeared in Austin Monthly, Austin Chronicle, Minnesota Monthly, Minneapolis StarTribune, Catholic Digest, Salon.com, PBS and more. Her work is featured in several anthologies, including Life’s A Stitch: The Best of Contemporary Women’s Humor and Travelers’ Tales: The Thong Also Rises. In addition to being a guest on zillions of podcasts, her commentaries have aired on the likes of NPR’s All Things Considered and KCRW’s Unfictional, and she was featured in a Minneapolis edition of Mortified. 

Wired magazine named Mary Jo one of the Top 100 Geeks to follow on Twitter, and ToplessRobot.com called her Pearl Forrester one of the top ten Delightfully Hammy Villain Performances.
